The courses are held at the National Bank of Serbia from March 24 to July 4, 2008 and are attended by participants from the insurance industry and academia members involved in the actuarial science.
This intensive course is part of the Program for the Improvement of the Actuarial Profession,developed jointly by USAID and the National Bank of Serbia. It focuses on Pension Insurance, Risk Modeling and Property and Casualty Insurance. After the successful completion of the course participants will meet internationally-recognized testing standards for certification, enabling them to become certified actuaries after acquiring three years of practical work experience.
Actuaries are professionals who assess financial consequences of unforeseen events, different types of risks and solvency of insurances companies. They play a key role in the insurance industry, thus such long term training program will lead to a more effective and efficient implementation of insurance services in Serbia.
The Actuarial training is part of USAID’s Economic Growth activity, a technical assistance project worth $20 million, implemented by BearingPoint Inc, an international management and consulting company based in Washington, DC. The goals of this USAID program are to help Serbia maintain rapid economic growth by strengthening the capacity of key economic and financial institutions to effectively manage the transition to a market economy. USAID key counterparts in the implementation of this project are the National Bank of Serbia, the Ministry of Finance, (NBS) and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
