Latest downpour bore positive effect on the energy sector in Albania and the Albanian national grid operator KESH (Korporata Energjitike Shqiptare) started exporting electricity.
According to Albanian Shqip newspaper, on Tuesday KESH has exported some 2.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity to Kosovo and it is expected that the country exports at least 5 million kilowatt-hours to the region every day.
Minister of Economy and Energy Dritan Prifti declared that the rain already gives its first fruits, as the water amassed in the reservoirs guarantees electricity production and export.
“The major goal is to reduce the import to zero and boost the export to the maximum”, the minister said.
