In terms of world consumption of wine, Romania ranks tenth, with 5.4 M hectoliters per year, on the first place being France with 31.8 M hectoliters. At world level, the consumption of wine amounts to 254 M hectoliters per year.
Romania ranks the 11 in the top biggest world wine makers, with a production of 6.8 M hectoliters, being surpassed by the world leader Italy, with a production of 48.6 M hectoliters, and Chile, on the ninth place, with a production of 8.7 M hectoliters, and also Russia, tenth in the top with a production of 7.1 M hectoliters, according to the report presented by the general director of the International Vineyard and Wine Organization, Federico Castellucci, an article published on Internet portal hebdorivenord.com informs.
