Karl Bildt, the foreign minister of Sweden, the country presiding over the European Union, arrived in Skopje in the evening of Nov. 26.

Sources in the Macedonian government said that Bildt's visit had not been announced and that he met with Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski in the evening of Nov. 26.

According to the sources, it is possible that Bildt will take part in the meeting between the prime ministers of FYRMacedonia and Greece, Gruevski and Gorgos Papandreou, in the Greek town of St. Achilles on the Prespansko Lake, on Nov. 27.

Gruevski and Papandreou will meet on Nov. 27 for the second time this month, as part of attempts to find a solution to the dispute between Skopje and Athens regarding the name of Macedonia, in keeping with the EU plan and through top-level contacts, so that Greece's veto on the start of Skopje's pre-accession negotiations with the EU can be avoided.
