The Albanian government has prepared the budget for the next year. Prime Minister Sali Berisha notified that within this month, the draft-law will be signed by the executive power and in October it will pass to parliament.
The main priorities of this budget are investments in infrastructure and tourism. Berisha warned that serious measures will be taken against those who infringe the law by polluting the environment and tourism areas. He said that they will not permit any construction within a ray of 100 meters from the sea.
“The government should approve the budget, so then, we can pass it to parliament in October. Then, the parliament will have the necessary time to analyze it in details. The main priorities of the 2010’s budget will be road infrastructure and dealing with tourism problems. We will change the procedures we have followed until now, and help will have a very precise destination. The law will be sent to parliament, and it will guarantee citizens that there will be public beaches for them. We will inspect all the respective legislation. If someone is willing to accept anti-standards, which comprise an ecological crime, the first to be dismissed will be the mayor. Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sport and the Ministry of Public Affairs will inspect 100 meters from the coast, which from now on must be considered as public spaces. There is no private property within 100 meters from the water. Another important priority will be the increase of salaries and pensions. The 2011’s budget will be the biggest budget in the history of Albania,” said Berisha in a governmental meeting.
