US military base worth $150 m will be built in the town of Aitos, Mayor Evgeni Vrabchev told the Standart.

There is a public procurement for the construction of the military facilities worth $43 m. A big German corporation with an Italian subcontractor won the tender.

This was announced at a public discussion organized in the town of Aitos with the participation of members of the NATO Defense College Alumni Association.

According to preliminary plans, the construction of the base will start the next spring and should be finished by the end of 2011.
