The Deputy Secretary of the Albanian Embassy in Skopje, Agim Haxhia, has been arrested Thursday in Turkey, after the police found 65 kilograms of high-quality heroin in his vehicle

The Deputy Secretary of the Albanian Embassy in Skopje, Agim Haxhia, has been arrested Thursday in Turkey, after the police found 65 kilograms of high-quality heroin in his vehicle, Macedonian agency Makfax reported.

Haxhia is currently on the territory of Turkey, however, no details as to the location where the drug was found, are revealed.

What is known so far is that the Albanian diplomat passed over the Macedonian-Bulgarian border with an official vehicle of the Embassy with diplomatic registration plates, Makfax agency said.

High-ranking officials of Interpol in Tirana confirmed to the Tirana-based TV Station Top Channel, that they had no information about the detention of the Albanian diplomat that took place last Saturday and the "successful operation" of the Turkish police.

The arrested official of the Albanian Embassy in Skopje is not a career diplomat, as he was assigned to the post three years ago, until when he worked as a journalist of the Albanian news agency ATA.
