EU high representative Javier Solana said in Sarajevo on May 20 that Bosnia-Herzegovina is not on the list of countries whose citizens will be allowed visa-free travel to the EU anytime soon.
At the end of his visit to Sarajevo, Solana said Bosnia-Herzegovina has not fulfilled the conditions met by other countries and has therefore not made it onto the list.
The senior EU official met with the chief of European police mission, Stephen Feller, and discussed the security situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the priorities of mission, adding that this is an important mission for Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Commenting on his joint visit to Bosnia with U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden, Solana said that Biden's messages to the citizens and officials of Bosnia-Herzegovina are very clear and direct.
Solana said he hopes that the leaders in Bosnia will change and adopt the necessary laws for the liberalization of the vise regime, as well as reform laws that will enable the country to join other countries in the region.
As stated by the Foreign Ministry of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Solana and High Representative for Bosnia-Herzegovina Valentin Inzko had talks in Sarajevo with Foreign Minister Sven Alkalaj about the future reform of the Constitution of Bosnia-Herzegovina, activities regarding Bosnia's candidacy for non-permanent membership of the U.N. Security Council, as well as potential challenges stemming from this membership.
