Allan Reed is the newly appointed U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Mission Director for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

‘I am very pleased to have the opportunity to direct the USAID Mission here in BiH, as it is a beautiful country with extraordinary people. I hope to use my experience and knowledge to help strengthen the economy, rule of law, democratization and to support BiH’s accession to Euro-Atlantic integration,” said Reed.
As The new USAID Mission Director to BiH has extensive experience in international relations and development. He has spent more than four decades in the field of development, implementing and managing development programs and initiatives in West, East and Southern Africa, South Asia and Europe.
Mr. Reed managed USAID’s Southern Sudan program for which he received the Presidential Rank Meritorious Award in 2008. He also served as USAID Mission Director in Zambia, and has been with USAID Missions in Kenya, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Russia, Guinea, Swaziland, and Mauritania.
Before his work with USAID, Mr. Reed spent several years working in Sudan during and after the first civil war. He produced a documentary for NBC-TV after traveling throughout the country with the Anya-Nya Liberation Movement and managed reconstruction of schools and clinics destroyed in Sudan’s first civil war in 1972. Mr. Reed started his career as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ethiopia in 1966.
Mr. Reed comes to Sarajevo following a position as the USAID Development Counselor in the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo. He received his BA in Political Science from the University of California at Berkley and his MS in Public Administration from the University of California, Irvine/UCLA, announced USAID's press release.
