Presidents of Serbia and Hungary, Boris Tadic and Laszlo Solyom respectively, opened a new Serbian cultural centre in Budapest.

Presidents of Serbia and Hungary, Boris Tadic and Laszlo Solyom respectively, opened a new Serbian cultural centre in Budapest.

Tadic said Serbs living in the EU represent the Serb national and cultural identity in the best manner possible. He sees the EU idea as a large-scale peace project, based on the preotection of the identity of peoples living in the EU.

Serbia has realized the maximum of interests and rights for minorities living there and asks the same of the countries with a Serb minority.

Solyom said Hungary will be helping minorities, adding they have constitutionally guaranteed rights to self-rule and cultural automony. He supported the wish of the Serb community in Hungary to be represented by MPs in political life as well.
