The Serbian Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SIEPA) stated today that 25 Serbian firms have signed contracts worth over $5.5 million for the export of food products, at the international food fair Anuga in Cologne.

According to a statement issued by the SIEPA, the top selling products were frozen fruits and vegetables, ready-made salads, preserves, jams, juices and sweets. Talks concerning other contracts worth $15.5 million are going on.

This is the latest of several successful joint exhibitions by Serbian companies at international fairs.

Exhibitions by the companies are organised by the USAID Agribusiness Project, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and SIEPA.

At the last food fair, World Food in Moscow, export contracts worth $8.5 million were signed and negotiations are continuing concerning other contracts worth over $16 million.

Long term coordinated work by USAID, the Ministry of Agriculture and SIEPA to promote exports, to improve Serbia’s image and to increase competition between domestic food producers has contributed greatly to this success.

Serbian products are showcased at fairs under the joint national slogan “Serbia Naturally” and exporters go through specialised marketing and sales training to improve their business skills, concludes the statement.
