The Serbian president and government are against participation of the Serbs in the local elections called by the Kosovo president. It has been announced in Belgrade that no conditions had been created for the Serbs to take part in the upcoming elections.

- A call to vote in the local elections called for November 15 on Wednesday was sent out from several addresses, including International Civilian Office Head Peter Feith, U.S. Ambassador Christopher Dell and Kosovo Prime Minister Hasim Taci.

During his visit to the Central election Commission, Feith said that the international community expects the local elections to be a successful test for the future of Kosovo.

We call on all citizens of Kosovo to go to the polls, particularly those who belong to new municipalities with the Serbian majority, said Feith. We ask them to go and vote, because it is a democratic right, said he.

The U.S. ambassador and Kosovo premier, who visited the family of Dusan Jorgic in Lipljan on Wednesday, also called on the Serbs to take part in the elections.

Taci said that he had come to visit Jorgic in order to "promote launching of a new life," while Dell said that pleasant atmosphere in Jorgic's house promises that there is room for all communities and people of good will in Kosovo.
