Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic, Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas and Belgrade city secretary for health Zoran Blagojevic last Saturday visited five health centres to analyse their ability to work under strained circumstances.

Milosavljevic said that every epidemic is a serious trial not only for the health system, but also of the state, reiterating that Serbia is giving its best to fight the virus.

Health centres in Belgrade have enough trained personnel, doctors and nurses to fight the virus to the best of their abilities.

Djilas noted that the city and the state have been working together for months to prepare for this flu season.

We have enough funds in our budget to procure respirators and additional amounts of medicines and we will resort to them if necessary, the Mayor said adding that all Belgrade residents with severe cases of flu can be hospitalised.

Blagojevic noted that Belgrade’s health system is fully ready to fight the virus, adding that citizens who believe they have flu symptoms should go and see general practitioners in health centres.

This flu is like any other, but the difference is that we are dealing with a virus strain to which we are not resistant and which is easily spread, Blagojevic explained.

Milosavljevic, Djilas and Blagojevic today visited clinical centres Zemun, Bezanijska Kosa, Dragisa Misovic and Zvezdara and health centre Savski Venac.
