PDK again accused AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj as the „capo‟ of the people who try to intimidate people while AAK officials not only ruled out any sort of involvement in the incident but accused the PDK for using violence against the high school students in Deçan.

The AAK also rejected allegations that the fire shots came from the party‟s supporters.

U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo Christopher Dell suggested the two parties show they are not actors to conflicts between their sympathizers. Dell said neither AAK nor PDK can justify violence that broke out in Deçan on Wednesday.

He said the incident is destructive for all Kosovo. “We expect the leadership of these two parties to identify this violence that happened yesterday, regardless of who stood behind it and call on the voters not to allow outbreak of violence any more,” Dell said.

International Civilian Representative Pieter Feith expressed regret for the incident in Deçan and added thatacts of violence have no room in a democratic election campaign. “I spoke to the Prime Minister and to Mr. Haradinaj. I have received strong assurances that the campaign and the election day will continue in a peaceful environment,” Feith said in a press release.

President Fatmir Sejdiu condemned the attack on Thaçi‟s escort but preferred to qualify the incident as an isolated case. “I wish to view it as an isolated incident, I don‟t believe it will be repeated,” he said noting that the vote is sacred. Assembly President Jakup Krasniqi issued a statement condemning the attack and saying it sends a bad message for Kosovo.
