British low cost airline EasyJet has applied for permission to fly to Kosovo-Metohija

From June 19, 2010, EasyJet is expected to start flying twice a week initially from Geneva to Pristina International Airport with the option to expand further in the future.

The growing air travel market in Kosovo, which is plagued by high prices, will gain strong competition if the Kosovo Government approves EasyJet's permit.

In markets where EasyJet operates, its strategy has been to offer low prices. In the first three quarters of this year, EasyJet had an income of £2.6 billion and 45.2 million passengers served.

EasyJet currently has regular flight in more than 100 cities in 27 European countries. After Air Berlin which started with flights to Swiss and German cities in November, this will be the second major European air carrier to enter the Kosovo market.
