Minister of Energy and Mining Petar Skundric is attending a two-day international forum "Development Scenarios for the Adriatic-Balkan Region", starting today in Gorizia, Italy.

The Ministry says in a statement that Minister Skundric is taking part in the international forum at the invitation of Renzo Tondo, President of the autonomous region Friuli–Venezia Giulia.

Last year this Serbian Ministry established intensive cooperation with the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and Ministers Skundric and Claudio Scajola signed a number of documents defining the guidelines for strategic cooperation between Serbia and Italy in the energy sector.

The agreement on cooperation between the two ministries was signed on 13 November, 2009, in Rome, in the presence of the Serbian and Italian Prime Ministers and President Boris Tadic.

Serbia and Italy’s cooperation in energy focuses on the construction of new hydroelectric facilities and facilities for generating energy from renewable sources, as well as the realisation of the Pan-European oil pipeline and the integration of mobile electric grids.

Bearing in mind the importance of joint projects planned for the upcoming period, Skundric’s participation in the Gorizia forum is a good opportunity to further the cooperation in the energy sector among the states in the region and beyond, the statement adds.
