Serbian Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac spoke on May 28 in Vienna with Austrian President Heinz Fischer and Austrian Chamber of Commerce representatives about cooperation in the defense industry and the continuation of investment in Serbia.

After meeting with Fischer, Sutanovac told BETA that he had received the Austrian president's support for the continuation of European integration and the placing of Serbia on the so-called white Schengen list.

Sutanovac said he had informed Fischer of current reform processes in the defense system and of future steps in that plan, and that he had found out that the Austrian army was going through similar problems in the reorganization process.

In the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, the Serbian minister spoke about defense industry cooperation opportunities and the possible joint production of weapons and military equipment which could be sold on third markets, as well as in Serbia.

Sutanovac recalled the Serbia's defense industry had exported to Austria munitions worth around EUR350,000, which is a symbolic sum, in the last period, but that it had been shown that there was the possibility of producing products which satisfied high standards.

Minister Sutanovac also attended an army music festival at the invitation of Austrian Defense and Sports Minister Norbert Darabos, and the two ministers will hold officials talks on May 29 in Vienna.
